Elizabeth Warren Might be Done. Here’s Why I’m Planning to Vote For Her Anyway.
This was a Facebook post that my friends bullied me into publishing on Medium. So forgive the lack of the customary hyperlinks, I’m in a bit of a rush. I’ll throw them up later if this gets any traction.
From the moment this primary began, whenever I’ve been asked about the race and my thoughts on those still running, I’ve repeatedly offered some variation on the following sentiments:
“I was an eleven-year-old black kid from the South Side of Chicago who couldn’t care less about politics when a Senator by the name of Barack Obama spoke at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. I was fifteen when he was elected, nineteen when he was reelected, and twenty-three when a man whose entire political viability was staked on delegitimizing him as an American citizen replaced him. I can’t envision a future in which I’m ever going to feel a wider range of emotions in inspiration, disillusionment, pride, disappointment, hope, fear, rage, sadness, and simmering resentment over the course of a candidacy and presidency again. So I don’t love any of them, I don’t dislike any of them. I’ll vote for whoever wins the primary. It is what it is.”
I don’t take any of that back, because every word of it is true.
